Hello.

"I am naturally curious, with a deep fascination for ancient and medieval history. I studied History of Art at Edinburgh before undertaking the Royal Drawing School’s development year. This curiosity drives my art practice, leading me to experiment with medieval techniques and materials to explore new ways of depicting flora and fauna. I work with natural pigments such as egg tempera, use manuscript gesso for raised gilding, and incorporate historical elements into my pieces. I also collaborate with a skilled framer who works with reclaimed timber from 12th–17th century shipwrecks and historic buildings, as well as a book restorer who provides me with manuscript fragments to integrate into my work. The result is a contemporary response to historical depictions of the natural world, blending medieval materials and processes with a fresh perspective.

Outside of my art practice I curate large group shows, often bringing together artists and makers who create interesting tension between tradition and innovation."
