Collection: LOST & FOUND
A collaboration between Antony James Hughes & Venetia Higgins.
This collection aims to breathe new life into fragments of history. From river-worn pottery and medieval vellum to gilded manuscripts and salvaged timbers, each work is a dialogue between past and present - part reliquary, part reconstruction. These assemblages and paintings transform forgotten remnants into contemporary icons, inviting us to consider what is preserved, what is lost, and what continues to endure.
Antony James Hughes
Antony James Hughes is a UK-based artist working primarily in assemblage and paint, creating evocative works that bridge the past and present. Based in Staffordshire, England, Antony draws deeply on history and antiquity, often incorporating old or ancient objects into his pieces to explore themes of memory, decay, and continuity. His work reflects a reverence for timeworn materials, inviting viewers to consider the stories embedded within each object and surface. With a practice rooted in the transformative potential of found materials, Antony James Hughes continues to evolve a compelling visual language that honours the past while reimagining its place in the contemporary world.
